March 5

As a change up to our Thankful Thursday, I want to focus on a few song lyrics. If you know these songs, you can even sing them back to Jesus as part of your time of thanks.

There are in many circles a theological idea (even if not articulated that clearly, but merely alluded to) that God can only potentially save you. In the chorus of the song, “Mighty To Save” (written by Ben Fielding & Reuben Morgan), it states:

Saviour, he can move the mountains

My God is mighty to save

He is mighty to save

Forever Author of Salvation

He rose and conquered the grave

Jesus conquered the grave

  1. Thank Him now for:
    1. Being God, and being able to actually and definitely save you, and that He did!
    2. Conquering the grave as the strong and mighty Victor!

“Thank you, Lord” (by Dennis Jernigan) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=moMCXokrjik:

For all that You’ve done, I will thank You

For all the You’re going to do

For all that You’ve promised

And all that You are

Is all that has carried me through

Jesus I thank You

And I thank You

Thank You Lord

And I thank You

Thank You Lord

Thank You for loving and setting me free

Thank You for giving Your life just for me

How I thank You

Jesus, I thank You

Gracefully thank You

Thank You

  1. Just thank Him for being the God of the past, the present, and the future!
  2. Thank Him for the weight and burden of sin being removed when He saved you.
    1. And thank Him for setting your free!

We each must view our lives as the Temple of the Holy Spirit. Now picture Jesus showing up to your life as He did during Passover to the Temple in Jerusalem. What would He find? Would He make a whip and drive stuff out of your life? Would He overturn tables in your life? Would He yell out that you have abused His Temple and have hindered, maybe even forsaken worship?

“Sanctuary” (John Thompson & Randy Scruggs): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ipia4gI6s1Q

Lord, prepare me to be a sanctuary

Pure and holy, tried and true

With thanksgiving, I’ll be a living

Sanctuary for You

It is you, Lord

Who came to save

The heart and soul

Of every man

It is you Lord

Who knows my weakness

Who gives me strength

With thine own hand

Lord prepare me to be a sanctuary

Pure and Holy, tried and true

With thanksgiving I’ll be a living

Sanctuary for you

Lead Me on Lord

From temptation

Purify me

From within

Fill my heart with

You holy spirit

Take away all my sin

Lord prepare me to be sanctuary

Pure and holy, tried and true

With thanksgiving, I’ll be a living

Sanctuary for You

Thank Him now for allowing you to even be part of His Temple (i.e. the undeserved grace of God):

Ask Him to forgive you of not pursuing holiness wholeheartedly.

Thank Him for forgiving you and ask Him to be pleased with your life.

Thank Him that your salvation is wholly in His hands, and that your perseverance is from the Holy Spirit Who indwells you.

Thank Him for all that He is going to do in your life to impact His Kingdom!
